Parking at Glasgow Airport
What it costs to drop someone off, what the car parks charge, what catches people out and who issues a ticket and how to appeal at Glasgow Airport.
Glasgow charges £7 to stay up to fifteen minutes in the Express Pick Up and Drop Off directly outside the terminal, then £1 for every further minute — and then, at thirty minutes, the price stops climbing and jumps. The airport's own table reads «After 30 mins £50.00», which means minute thirty costs £22 and minute thirty-one costs £50. It is barrier controlled and card only, so the charge is taken as you leave and there is no notice in the post. The free alternative is the Long Stay car park, free for up to an hour with a shuttle bus to the terminal, and that is where the airport itself points anyone who is not sure how long they will be.
Dropping someone off at Glasgow Airport
Dropping off at the terminal costs £7 to £50.
| How long you stay | What it costs |
|---|---|
| Up to 15 minutes | £7 |
| Up to 30 minutes | £22 £7 plus £1 for each of the fifteen minutes to the half hour. The airport publishes the per-minute rate rather than this total — the arithmetic is ours. |
| After 30 minutes | £50 A flat figure from the airport's own table, not a continuation of the per-minute rate. Minute thirty costs £22; minute thirty-one costs £50. |
Glasgow publishes a single drop-off tariff for the airport, with no split by terminal.
Past fifteen minutes it is £1 for each further minute, and past thirty minutes the airport's table gives a flat £50.00 — so half an hour costs £22 and a minute more costs £50. The airport calls this a premium charge on exit. Entry and exit are barrier controlled and payment is card only, at the forecourt exit barrier, by credit, debit or contactless, with no surcharge for using a card. Drivers wanting more than fifteen minutes are advised to use the Terminal Multi Storey instead, where an hour is £15. Cash has not been accepted on exit since 25 April 2023. Blue Badge holders get 30 minutes free — but in the Terminal Multi Storey, quoting the badge number on the intercom at the exit, or in a 30-minute window in car park 2, not on the forecourt. All coaches and buses must drop off in Zone C.
Free alternative: The Long Stay car park is free for up to one hour, with a free shuttle bus that usually takes less than five minutes to the terminal — or less than an eight-minute walk. Postcode PA3 2AY. It is the airport's own recommendation for anyone unsure how long they will be waiting.
Picking someone up
Collecting from the terminal costs £7 to £50.
The same zone and the same tariff cover collections, including the £50 above thirty minutes. Glasgow notes the area is often congested and suited only to a quick stop — for meeting someone in arrivals it points at the Terminal Multi Storey, where an hour is £15.
Free alternative: The Long Stay car park's free hour is the sensible place to wait for an arrival: a free shuttle brings your passenger out to you in under five minutes, and it is under an eight-minute walk. Postcode PA3 2AY.

| Car park | Type | Walk | Prices |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long Stay — free pick-up and drop-off Free for up to an hour. A free shuttle bus runs to the terminal and usually takes under five minutes; the airport notes shuttles are busier at peak times. It is also less than an eight-minute walk. Postcode PA3 2AY. The airport's own answer to «not sure how long you will need to wait». Longer stays are charged at the car park's own rates. |

| Express Pick Up & Drop Off In the terminal multi-storey, directly outside the main terminal building. Barrier controlled, card payment only at the forecourt exit barrier, with no card surcharge. What catches people out at Glasgow Airport
- Minute thirty-one costs £28 more than minute thirty — The tariff is £7 for fifteen minutes and £1 a minute after — which puts half an hour at £22. But the airport's table then reads «After 30 mins £50.00». There is no taper and no warning in the pricing: crossing the half hour adds £28 in one step. source
- A Blue Badge is worth nothing on the forecourt — Blue Badge holders get 30 minutes free at Glasgow — in the Terminal Multi Storey car park, quoting the badge number on the intercom at the exit, and in a separate 30-minute window in car park 2. Neither is the Express Pick Up and Drop Off. Pulling up outside the terminal with a badge on the dashboard gets the standard £7. source
- Card only, at the barrier — Payment is taken at the forecourt exit barrier by credit or debit card or contactless. Cash has not been accepted on exit from Glasgow's car parks or its pick-up and drop-off since 25 April 2023, and there is no surcharge for cards. Arriving with only notes and coins means arriving at a barrier you cannot open. source
- An hour in the multi-storey is cheaper than 31 minutes outside — The Terminal Multi Storey is £15 for an hour. The Express zone is £50 the moment you pass thirty minutes. If there is any chance of waiting longer than half an hour, the car park a few minutes' walk away costs a third as much — both figures from the airport's own table. source
- The free hour is only free if you go to it first — Long Stay gives an hour free, with a shuttle that usually takes under five minutes, and the airport recommends it for anyone unsure how long they will wait. The trouble is that the decision is made at the entrance: once you are on the forecourt with the meter running, the free option is behind you. source
If you get a ticket at Glasgow Airport
Glasgow Airport is private land. A notice issued here is a parking charge notice — a claim under the contract you accept by parking, not a fine issued by a council. Nobody at the airport has the power to fine you.
Because this is not a council notice, an appeal does not go to the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland (General Regulatory Chamber), which hears council penalty charge notices in Scotland.
Glasgow publishes no parking charge notice for this zone, and no appeals route with it. Entry and exit are barrier controlled and the charge — including the £50 above thirty minutes, which the airport calls a premium charge on exit — is taken as you leave rather than sent afterwards, so there is normally nothing issued and nothing to appeal. The airport names neither an operator nor a trade body, so we cannot say whether a dispute would reach POPLA or the IAS. If anything is issued to you here, read the operator's name and the appeals route off the document itself.
