Parking at Newcastle International Airport

What it costs to drop someone off, what the car parks charge, what catches people out and who issues a ticket and how to appeal at Newcastle International Airport.

NCLTyne and WearReviewed 29 September 2026

Newcastle names one car park Short Stay 1 and another Short Stay 2, and they are not variants of the same thing: fifteen minutes costs £12 in the first and £4 in the second. From half an hour onward Short Stay 2 is priced exactly like Long Stay, so the cheapest short stop and one of the cheapest long ones share a tariff. The names do not tell you that, and nothing on the page does either.

Up to 30 minutes in Short Stay 2 £14 Short Stay 2 is the cheapest terminal car park for a stop of this length.
Up to 60 minutes in Short Stay 2 £20 Short Stay 2 is the cheapest terminal car park for a stop of this length.

Newcastle has a single terminal, so no split by terminal arises.

Short Stay 2 is the cheapest terminal option for a quick stop at £4 for fifteen minutes, then £14 for half an hour and £20 for an hour. Express charges £6 for ten minutes, £12 for thirty and £20 for an hour. Short Stay 1 charges £12 for the same fifteen minutes.

Free alternative: The Airport Waiting Zone at Callerton Parkway, postcode NE13 8DN, is free for up to 90 minutes. The operator's two pages describe it differently: Car Parking Options says «up to 90 minutes free parking for taxis, minibuses and public vehicles», while Pick Up & Drop Off states the 90 free minutes with no vehicle restriction. Check before relying on it in a private car.

The airport's own drop-off page →

Picking someone up

Collecting from the terminal costs £4 to £20.

Collections use the same car parks and the same ladders as drop-offs. For a delayed arrival the Waiting Zone's 90 free minutes are the only free option, and the operator's pages disagree about who may use them.

Free alternative: Airport Waiting Zone, Callerton Parkway, NE13 8DN — up to 90 minutes free, subject to the discrepancy noted in drop_off.free_alternative.

What catches people out at Newcastle International Airport

  • Short Stay 1 costs three times Short Stay 2 for the same fifteen minutes — Short Stay 1 charges £12 for fifteen minutes and Short Stay 2 charges £4 for the same fifteen minutes. The names give no hint of it. source
  • Short Stay 2 and Long Stay share a tariff from half an hour to a day — From thirty minutes to twenty-four hours, Short Stay 2 and Long Stay are priced identically — £14, £20, £22, £26, £30, £50. They part company only in the multi-day totals, where Short Stay 2 is £10 a day more. source
  • Long Stay's printed multi-day rows are cheaper than its own further-day rule — Long Stay's printed multi-day prices are exactly £40 a day: £80, £120, £160. Applying the «per day or part thereof» line of £40 to the £50 first day gives £90 for two days — £10 more than the printed £80. Read the row, not the rule. source
  • The lowest barrier belongs to the car park nearest the terminal — Express has the lowest barrier at the airport, 2.0 m, and that height is published only on the Pick Up & Drop Off page. A roof box will not clear it, and Express is the car park a hurried driver aims for. source
  • Express costs more than double Long Stay by the day — Express costs £120 for twenty-four hours, more than double Long Stay's £50, and £600 for a week against Long Stay's £280. source
  • The Waiting Zone's free 90 minutes are described two ways — The Airport Waiting Zone's 90 free minutes are described two ways by the operator: one page limits them to «taxis, minibuses and public vehicles», the other names no restriction. Check before relying on it in a private car. source
  • Two Premium products publish no prices at all — Premium Meet & Greet and Premium Long Stay publish no price tables at all — only a booking route. There is nothing to compare them against in advance. source
  • A van is priced as a car, and gets the only 2.9 metres at the airport — A van pays the same as a car from one hour onward in Minibus & Van Parking, and less below it. It is also the only car park that publishes 2.9 m of clearance. source

If you get a ticket at Newcastle International Airport

Newcastle International Airport is private land. A notice issued here is a parking charge notice — a claim under the contract you accept by parking, not a fine issued by a council. Nobody at the airport has the power to fine you.

Because this is not a council notice, an appeal does not go to the Traffic Penalty Tribunal, which hears council penalty charge notices in England outside London, and Wales.

The operator names neither an enforcement contractor nor a trade body on the parking pages, so we cannot say in advance whether an appeal would reach POPLA or the IAS. Ask for the basis of any charge in writing before paying or disputing it.
